Hi, I'm Yaro. Originally from Ukraine, I now call London home.
Music has always been at the heart of my life. Growing up in a musical
family, I picked up the cello at the age of six. Alongside it, I dabbled
in dance and painting, but over time, the cello took center stage.
After completing my studies at a local music school in Rivne, I moved to
Kyiv to continue my education at the M. Lysenko Specialized Music
School, and later, the National Academy of Music. It was during the 2013
revolution, with the conservatoire partially closed and the situation
increasingly unsafe, that my path took an unexpected turn. A series of
events led me to London, where I was offered a place and scholarship at
the Royal College of Music. I was incredibly fortunate to study under
the guidance of extraordinary musicians like Natalie Clein and Thomas
Carroll. My journey allowed me to win awards, receive scholarships, and
perform solo at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including
Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall.
In 2018, I joined the
Philharmonia Orchestra, a group I've long admired. It's an extraordinary feeling to be part
of such a talented and passionate team. The connection and unity we
share on stage is something truly special.
While music has always been my core focus, the events of 2020 brought an
unexpected pause. As the world slowed, I found myself exploring new
creative passions I hadn’t yet made time for. I spent countless hours
shaping clay in a pottery studio—a truly therapeutic process.
Photography became a way for me to capture the world through a different
lens, and I ventured into interior design, graduating from the
Interior Design Institute. Fascinated by how spaces shape our emotions, I also dove into Feng
Shui. Along the way, I reconnected with my body through yoga, belly
dancing, salsa, and, most recently, tango. I even learned to code, which
opened up an entirely new realm of creativity. In fact, I built this
website from scratch as part of my
SheCodes
course.
This website is a reflection of my journey - not just as a cellist, but
as someone who believes in the power of creativity, in all its forms.
Whether it's through music, design, photography, technology, or writing,
I see these pursuits as different expressions of the same drive: to
understand, to create, and to connect.
If anything here speaks to you, and if you'd like to share your
thoughts, ideas, or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
